How Abu Found Me

It was a cold, snowy November 11, 1993 evening.

Dad had invited my tactless friend and I to meet him for a Mexican dinner. YUMMY! Of course we met him!

As we walked up to the door there was a little tiny fur ball curled up in a ball trying to stay warm. It was freezing outside! I couldn't let the little guy just sit there and shiver!!

I picked up the frozen little guy and wrapped him up in my ski parka and laid him in the driver seat of my car. Throughout dinner I continuously went outside to check on him. I was very worried about the little guy. He was too sick to move or to even bathe himself!

Dad kept asking me what I was going to do with that cat?! It had been a year and a half since we had a cat in the house and when we lost her it was a painful loss! Hadn't we been through enough loss over the last couple of years??

I was going to take him to my Aunt's house. She never turned down a stray! That's how she ended up with so many kids and grandkids!!

But as we were leaving Dad said "I guess you'd better take him home if you want him!". I didn't ask any questions on that one!

All the way home my tactless friend whined and cried about how terrible this cat smelled. She had no empathy! That's ok, she didn't have any brains either!

But I also knew this kitty was really sick and probably would not live through the night. So I tried not to get attached to him.

We got home and I made him a bed by my heat vent and went to buy him some cat food. The next morning, he was still breathing, but not eating or drinking. I knew I had to go to school, I was going to be leaving early anyways - and I wasn't even sluffing this time!

So I went to school and went on with my day. I was afraid to go home, I was sure this frail little kitty would have went to the Rainbow Bridge for sure.

But as I walked in - I found him asleep. On Dad's bed!! His little head was resting on a cowboy boot! He still wasn't doing very well, but he was still breathing!!

Maybe this kid would pull through!!!

A Monday without Mom - Party!

Mom has been working from home for the last few months. Today she finally returned to the office! So I talked my brother's and sister into having a party while mom was gone!!

Skye couldn't wait to get that hot babe from across the street over here. He really has the hots for Oreo! Who wouldn't?! She's every man's dream! She is both black and white! It's like a twofer!! And the way she wiggles her little rear when she saunters... that makes every guy stop in his kitty litter!

Spunky was all over the action. He high-jacked the catnip cupboard so we could all get loose and just hang! After that, he gave us all some cat grass - we had the mega-munchies!

I tried to get Cassie to be the dancin' chick. She has quite a hot bod ya know. But she is way too uppity for that and went back to painting her claws. She just loves that bright pink claw color that gets all the guys whiskers a movin and tails a thumpin!

Smokey the mommy's boy threatened to get us all in trouble by telling on us. But I showed him. I sat on his head for a good half an hour. After that I growled and bit his cheek! That'll teach him!

"Hey Tig! Catch Me!!" I heard as one Spunky's little delinquent buddies jumped off the entertainment center and headed straight for me! I moved in time and I'm sure that little rug rat was fine. He only hit his head, it's not like he could have hurt anything!

From the ceiling I could see 4 kittens hanging from the rafters! They were swaying back and fourth to that techno that was blaring from the Zune.

I decided it was time for this Tig to get a good rub down! 'Who wants to massage the Tig?' I yelled. From across the room that little hottie Oreo sauntered up to me and with her paw on my shoulder she responded: 'Hey there big fella! I'll give you a massage.'

Ecstasy was waiting for me!! I was at heaven's door and couldn't wait to get in!

Just as we entered the privacy of my kitty cube, my afternoon party was ruined!!

I heard mom's key in the door. In a mad dash we ran into the bedroom and acted as though we had all been asleep where she left us 9 hours earlier.

'Wake up kids! Mommy is home! Have you been good today? Of course you have. You haven't even moved from the bed' mom said in her baby talk.

Foiled today, but tomorrow is a new day!
